Have you tried the new POW glitter paper? I created this card using Best Creation "Walk in the Garden" glitter cardstock as the base of the card. The rose-colored side panel is cut from a sheet of the POW glitter paper made by American Crafts. I used a border punch to create the scalloped edge. Inside the card, I included a butterfly cut from the same POW glitter paper using the Cricut. The blade had no problem cutting through the glitter paper and there was no residue of glitter left on the machine. How great is that? It is also easy to get to adhere to other papers. One sheet of each product will create 6 card fronts.

If you are looking for a creative jolt, check out the store this Saturday. The domino jewelry class is in the morning. At 1:00 you can learn the basics of cardmaking while creating 4 Valentine's. This class includes the tri-fold card. Later that night, you can join the crop and finish up all those projects that we seem to accumulate.

The long awaited POW glitter cardstock has arrived at the store. More than 30 color choices are available. This is a very soft textured glitter surface. I love it because you don't tear up your Cricut blade. Plus you don't have all that grit left over on the Ellison die-cutting area.

You can bring whatever refreshments you'd like to serve. Guests can create a scrapbook page for the honoree while enjoying the festivities. I needed to donate an item for a silent auction and I decided to create some original Christmas cards. I think they turned out cute. I used Dead Beat Design and Texana stamps. I created these from 5 sheets of American Crafts "Dear Lizzy Christmas" cardstock and two packages of embellishments. I still have lots of embellishments and paper left to make more cards. (If you receive one, act surprised and pretend you did not read this.) I wish the photos turned out better but lighting is hard to achieve at midnight.

Another order of Dead Beat Designs rubber stamps has arrived at the store. I am enclosing some of my favorite card samples. Mark has again created a great armadillo Christmas concept. Be sure to look for the sample at the store. I bought this Texas ornament stamp myself. It looks great heat embossed in gold. The fireworks stamps we bought in July can be utilized for a great New Year's card like the sample below. These were heat embossed. Mark has also created some nice sympathy messages as shown in the last photo.

I just finished a birthday gift for an 18 year-old male. I was looking for something manly. To save time, I bought a note card/envelope set in hunter green. I embossed his initials on the note card and the envelope flap in pewter. I used the Just-Rite Special Occasions stamp set. It comes with interchangeable alphabet letters and themed borders. Now, time to get to the post office to get them in the mail!

The new Christmas rubber stamps from Dead Beat Designs have arrived at the store. There are a number of new holiday designs. The artist has created a series of Texas-themed tags to show how cute these can be. Be sure to stop by the store before they sell out!

I really love this design. It incorporates all the symbols of Texas in a perfect Christmas motif. This sample is inked in various colors. It also looks great heat embossed in a single color.

I can't wait till tomorrow! The store is open special hours this weekend- Saturday 8:30 AM - 1 AM and Sunday 11 AM - 5 PM. On Saturday, Tami will be at the store 4-6 PM hosting a Make 'n Take for $1 fee. The crop is Saturday night until 1 AM. Yippee! Maybe I can get some progress achieved on my 2008 vacation photos.

On Sunday, the Gecko Galz will host a free Make 'n Take 1-2 PM. Their Cowgirl Tag book class starts at 2 PM. Fee is $45. There are still a few seats available.

You'll want to stop by the store to check out these events. Plus, the Christmas Anna Griffin collection and the Prima vintage collection have arrived. Both are gorgeous and will not last long on the shelf.

Big Plans for the weekend

There is still time to register for the "Fall Back into "Scrappin" crops scheduled for the weekend. On both Friday and Saturday 6PM - 1AM, you can enjoy working in the crop room at the store. Great new product

The store recently received a new product- Sparkle Fibers. They come in a variety of colors and are like glitter except they are slender fibers instead of metallic squares. Lots of glitter results. You adhere them with glue or tape runner just like glitter. Jane made this card and used blue fibers to decorate the spots on the butterfly.

Ginger used opalescent fibers around the edge of the tag on this card.

Great gift idea

I recently completed a mini album as a bridal shower gift. The bride now has a ready-made album. She just needs to add the photos. I used a variety of paper from the store including the resist heart design cardstock, the embossed white flower pattern cardstock, and the white dotted swiss. I also used some of the BoBunny Olivia collection. The bride's colors are cobalt blue and orange. I think it turned out nice.

Sept 16 and Sept 17 will mark the "Fall back into 'Scrappin" crops. The kids are back in school. The holidays are approaching. NOW is the time to get back into your scrapbook materials and finish up all the vacation photos. Each night from 6 PM to 1 AM, the store will host a crop. There will be snacks, games, and prizes. Fee is just $20 per night for your own work table and access to the store dies and punches. What a deal!

The store just received several NEW collections from SEI. This is the company that has fabulous foiled and glitter embossed paper. There are many metal embellishments also. SEI has always been a favorite of mine.

If you want to explore ways to preserve family memories, this is the class for you. Learn the basics of design and complete your own 12x12 layout. Class attendees also receive $5 store credit.

Sunday July 10 3-5 PM Magic of Oz card class $20 fee
If you have admired the new Graphic 45 collection, this is your chance to create 4 cards using this paper line as well as some off-beat Oz rubber stamps. (Be prepared to poke some fun at this classic story.) You will receive a supply list when you register for this class.

Crop Retreat

Clear your calendars for July 8-9. The store will be hosting a Beat the Heat Retreat. Hours will be 10 AM to 11 PM each day. Fee will be $30 per day which includes supper. If you register for both days, the fee is only $50. There will be daily give aways. This is a great opportunity to stay in the air conditioning and get caught up with your projects.

Susan is stocking a product from "kanban" that features foil and thermographic imaging. There are lots of colors to pick from. Some of the kits allow you to design several cards from one kit. I included a photo of two of these. There are also scrapbook kits that allow you more room on your layout because the page includes a folded flap. Very cool! One of the upcoming card swaps will utilize this product.

"In Bloom" by Reminisce is the newest arrival at the store. As you can see in the photo, you have several choices of base colors. I really like how the colors or the patterns match each other. Tulips always say "spring" to me.

Little Yellow Bicycle has a great springtime collection at the store called "Elizabeth Park." The papers are double-sided and are very bright. The coolest thing is that one of the pages can create a double layout regardless of whether you match the left or right sides. How clever! Unfortunately, I can't get the photo to publish. The label design above is also unique. It is positioned on a sheet of "chalkboard" paper. (You know, the big craze is the chalkboard look.)

Great new collection

The store just received a paper collection called "Tea Party" from Creative Imaginations. It really looks like Mary Englebreit artwork. I love it!!! It is double-sided cardstock weight paper. So this is really only 2 sheets of paper in the photo.

Custom school paper available

The store has custom school paper for NBHS, CHS, NHS, SVHS, and CLHS on the shelf. As we are busy finishing school-related scrapbooks, this is the best time to come in and pick up your school's logo.

Another really cool product is also availble. You can order customized paper through one of the store's vendors. There are many different designs available. You can choose a specific sport or choose your school colors. A specific name and/or jersey number can also be printed on the paper. You can also choose to upload graphics or photos onto the background. All of this is available for under $20 for a 12 sheet minimum order. The special order takes 2-3 weeks to produce. This would work for other special events too such as family reunions, weddings, graduations. I can't wait to create a custom design myself.

National Scrapbook Day is approaching

Saturday, May 7 is National Scrapbook Day. The store is hosting a twelve hour crop that day to celebrate. Seats are going fast so contact the store soon if you are interested in joining the fun. There will be food, prizes, and contests. Rumor is circulating that another mystery layout challenge will be held. (This is also the date for the next prize drawing to win the rolley tote. Customers earn a chance in the drawing for every $15 spent.)

Shabby Chic layout

Here is a layout I finished today using some of my new treasures. The background paper is from Pink Paislee. It is double-sided cardstock weight paper. I used bronze glimmer mist to dye the tulle flower, the lace ribbon, and the actual photo mat. This ensures that your embellishments match the total project regardless of the manufacturer. The stunning flower was stamped with a new stamp by Stampendous (Jumbo Peony Set). The flower was stamped on the pink printed paper, embossed with copper glitter embossing powder, and then popped onto the page with pop dots. The stamp set is currently

Garage sale reminder

The big crafters garage sale is next Saturday, April 16 at 9:00. If you have items to sell, call the store to get a vendor number. You just price your items and drop them off. Your proceeds are either 50% in cash OR 100% in store credit to spend on NEW stuff.

If you are looking for bargains, be sure to get up early and head to the store at 9 AM. Sales are CASH only. This is a great way to get started in the hobby or outfit your teen with lots of supplies. The sale is open till 5:30 PM.

Have you noticed the American Crafts "Love" collection? I created this layout using the collection. It incorporates a really great true red and kraft paper. The obvious use would be for Valentine's.
